Lookie what I made for halloween/freaking people out/general tomfoolery!

The hat and mask are finished but the actual costume is a serious WIP. XD

I made a rough guide/tutorial thingy on my blog, below.

How weird! Was only saying yesterday (after a Horrible Histories discussion with the little sister) that I ought to get myself a plague doctor costume!
That looks FAB, don't go scaring too many children though :D

This is awesomely freaky. Wouldn't like to meet anyone in that costume on a dark and spooky night.

Wonderful work! I love it. Seriously, it takes a lot of effort to make these, doesn't it? xD
Plague doctor masks are so much fun~ Especially if you're wearing them through a hot summer day with the whole other attire *has some experience that's probably already been sugarcoated...* But yes for the cool end of October this seems like a great idea. Have fun! 8D

Haha, yes handcrafts are great stress relievers :D By the way what is your mask made of? I did mine out of cast, suprisingly sturdy CB It looks like this xhiara.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d525ouh
Yeah, it's quite insane. I was dying at the comic con, where I wore it xD But it was worth it I guess. Oh you're going to enjoy the feeling that when walking in a crowd, people make way for you~

There's a link in the description to a walkthrough of how I made it. :P It was mostly tinfoil and duct tape though! XD

Ooooh, I love the red details!

Heh, I need to make the actual clothes now - all I have is the mask and hat!

Oooooooooooh, amazing! That is a very very clever way to make a mask like this 8D Tinfoil and duct tape have their own major advantage: it's light~ 8D Great tutorial by the way.

Heh, thank you.

That is a perfect start ;D Can't wait to see it all done~ Let me repeat what I said before, Have fun~ 8D

Definitely! Really cheap to make too - I only had to buy some extra duct tape as I was running out - everything else I already had in the house!

Sweet mask! I made one myself, and I gotta tell you, it creeps the daylights out of everyone! XD [link]

I actually made mice out of thin craft foam, which was white until I gave it like 8 coats of strong instant coffee lol. The goggles aren't the final ones... they were too small and I, also wearing glasses, couldn't see... But I've got some good one now and yeah, I agree with you about acrylic lenses fogging up. I tried em, and there was just fog everywhere. What I went and did is cut two circles from door screening and paited them black and installed those. No one can see in, but I can see out just peachy!

But you did a marvelous job! Keep up the good work!

Oh wow, yours looks just like the real thing! :o
Good idea with the screen stuff - I might have a rummage around later and see if I have anything similar...

Thanks! I actually had to make several patterns from posterboard until I was satisfied, then I stitched it together!

If you can't find the metal screening, you can always look for black tulle fabric or stretch and sandwich black panty hose between the outer and inner goggle pieces. (you did use two pieces right? One from a water bottle and one from a milk jug?)I'd recommend hot glue to hold 'em in place.

I like the design of yours too! I'd have never thought of using a clothes hanger, that was ingenious! And I've been there with the tinfoil and duct tape XD Awkward, but it works! How does the mask stay on? Elastic? Strings? I made a set of straps, one that does around my head, and one that goes over the top. My grandma had an old purse with buckles and rivets she gave me to tear apart, so I used those for decoration. You could try old belts or dog collars in similar colors.

Yeah, I think I've got some material that would do nicely but as I said, my glasss fog up with the eyes OPEN so I doubt I'll actually use it! lol

Heh, I'm all about the recycling! ;) It's just a bit of elastic tied on round the back. I'm amazed it's so secure actually! I'd really like to do a proper leather strap with buckles and whatnot but until I find the right buckles the elastic'll have to do. XD
